Crostini appetizer
Gem salad
Squash ravioli

Drago Centro (LA, CA)

Beet salad with goat cheese
Mushroom risotto
Mmm...berries!

Chosun Galbee (Los Angeles, CA)

This ivy-covered building serves excellent Korean bbq.

The Getty Museum Restaurant (Los Angeles, CA)

The food was ok, but the real star were the views from this restaurant inside the Getty Museum.

Cauliflower soup; turkey sandwich.

JW Marriott, 8th Floor (Los Angeles, CA)

Early birthday present for Jen: the Black Eyed Peas' leftovers. They eat garlic bread, just like us!

Myung Dong Kyoja (Los Angeles, CA)

We made a late night pitstop at this Korean chain famous for their noodles and garlicky kimchee.

Providence (Los Angeles, CA)

This restaurant deserves both its Michelin stars.  The food was creative yet traditional, and reminded me of some of the best meals I've had (11 Madison Park, Le Bernardin, Alinea).  The bread selection included bacon bread (just like Joel Robuchon!) and nori focaccia.

Seasonal truffles; amuse bouche; kanpachi with soy creme fraiche; bobbys' block island sea scallops with buckwheat, napa cabbage, and dashi butter; striped bass with mussels.

AOC Wine Bar and Restaurant (Los Angeles, CA)

We visited Chef Suzanne Goin's restaurant on our layover from Sydney to New York (we saw her at Otto after the James Beard awards earlier this year).  Delicious food in an intimate setting!

Curried cauliflower roasted in a woodburning oven; softshell po'boy, cabbage slaw, paprika; arroz negro with squid and saffron aioli

Saam (Beverly Hills, CA)

Fantastic meal at Saam (Beverly Hills) last night. Saam is the private, 20-course tasting room at Jose Andres's restaurant Bazaar. They served many amazing dishes they don't serve at Bazaar as well as my favorite from the Modern Bazaar menu: Hilly Cheese Steaks (a modern, vegetarian rendition of the Philadelphia Cheese Steak, pictured in second picture below). The staff was fantastic and very accommodating bringing us extras of anything we loved (which was most everything). It all went down smoothly with some great Spanish wine and Tokaji.
